Our Church Leadership

The encouragement of others in the church helps give us the courage to step out in faith. We don’t want you to run the race alone.

Who We Are

Pastor: Reverend Darnell Smith

Rev. Darnell Smith was born on November 20, 1993, in Carrollton Georgia. When he was 18 years old, he joined the United States Marine Corps, where he proudly served our country for 5 years. While in the military he met and married his wife, Holly Smith. After his time in the military, he and his wife stayed in North Carolina where she was born and raised. The Lord has blessed them with three children: McKinley, Brooklyn, and Thomas.

Rev. Smith answered the call to preach in October of 2020 and began his ministry by preaching at churches in Edgecombe County and the surrounding areas. In 2022 he took the role as Children’s Pastor at Gospel Missionary Baptist Church where he was later ordained in April of 2023. The Lord called him to Eagles Baptist Church as Interim Pastor in July of 2023, and in May of 2024 he began full-time ministry by accepting the position as Pastor. In May of 2026 he graduated from New Grace Bible College & Seminary with his Bachelor of Theology.

Rev. Smith does not take the calling the Lord has laid on his heart lightly, he has a passion for sharing the gospel and making disciples of Christ. Matthew 6:33 states: “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” The Lord has blessed him and his family with so much and he can’t wait to see what all the Lord has planned for his future here at Eagles Baptist Church.
